Movie Star Stage Dive

Hello everyone and welcome to all of our new followers :) Thanks for reading our crazy ramblings!
With Thanksgiving break over and life somewhat back on track, I'm able to bring you another mani today. I actually did this one over break while I was at my mom's and have been saving it up for a day when I was feeling too lazy to do something new to share!

I started out with 2 coats of Essence - Movie Star. I'm a sucker for the little bottle :) However, I didn't really love the application. It was a little thick, but it could be from sitting on our shelf in the hot apartment all summer. I decided to top this with Funky Fingers - Stage Dive. I really liked the hexagonal glitters in this. This was the first time I had used a Funky Fingers, and it inspired me to go out and buy some more on Black Friday! At such a low price, I couldn't resist (3 for $5).
I loved this combo with the gray and the glitter and I was able to wear it for quite a few days before it chipped too badly.
Some photos in natural light!!

I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays. Thanks for reading.

In the Spotlight at the Breaking Dawn Premiere

Sorry that we haven't posted in forever, but life has been crazy lately.  As you know, Jen and I went on a little vacation together.  We actually went to Los Angeles and Las Vegas for a 9 day vacation.  It was beyond amazing.  The best part was that we were able to attend The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 premiere.  Lets just say that it was beyond amazing.  All of us are really big fans of the books and the movies, so being able to see the stars up close and getting to watch the movie 4 days early was awesome.

However, I didn't keep up with my duty of taking photos of my nails.  I was able to get a few photos the day of the premiere, but the rest of the days were not as successful.  And the photos that I did take didn't turn out the best because of the red nail polish I was wearing the day before.  But I hope the other pictures will make up for the fact that these nail photos kinda suck.  I used Ulta Concrete and added Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear In the Spotlight (thanks mom!) on my accent nail.

And here some of the pictures from the premiere:
Ashley Green aka Alice Cullen

Kristen Stewart aka Bella Swan

Robert Pattinson aka Edward Cullen

Nikki Reed aka Rosalie Cullen

Peter Facinelli aka Carlisle Cullen

Kellan Lutz aka Emmett Cullen
Again, sorry for the lack of posting.  I hope you all enjoyed the photos and we will definitely try to get back to posting on a regular basis.

Hope everyone enjoyed the holiday weekend!

Very Cherry

The mani I'm showing you today is pretty simple. I painted my nails with Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Very Cherry yesterday and wore it plain today. I picked up this color on clearance at Target for $1 :) The polish goes on great. The only complaint I have it that after 2 coats, there was still some VNL, but I was too lazy to paint a second coat.

Rainbow Connection

Hello everyone! Sorry for being MIA for a few days, but Jen and Brittany are on vacation and I'm left to entertain you :) I've been failing my duties since it was mid-quarter at school and I was swamped with papers to grade and enter online.
The other day at school, it was like a monsoon outside of my classroom window, yet the sun was shining. My students (eager for a distraction) were searching for a rainbow. Unfortunately, we couldn't find one. I decided to bring a little color into my life by trying out OPI - Rainbow Connection. Brittany picked up this glitter a few weeks ago and I've been dying to test it out. I opted to layer it over Orly - Liquid Vinyl to help it pop!
I really loved the way the glitter looked. I got so many compliments on it at school. The hexagonal glitters really reflected the light. And as a bonus, it matched perfectly with both outfits yesterday and today :)

Also, the weather here has been rather dreary (lots of rain, tornado watches) and we've even seen snow. The conditions for photo-taking (and day-light hours) are quickly dwindling. I've tested out every light I can find in the apartment, and the best I've found so far is the light above the stove. Hopefully these are okay!

So sorry!

I just quickly wanted to apologize for our lack of posting.  Jen is unfortunately not feeling well and has been unable to post.  And to top it all off we are getting ready to go on a trip, so there just hasn't been any time.  We will try to post either later today, or tomorrow.

Sorry again!

Electric Star

I've decided to show you one of my favorite go-to mani's. When I'm looking for something to add a little something extra to my nails, but I don't have a lot of time, I resort to tape mani's. The easiest and quickest mani I've tried with tape is diagonals. The tape is quick to cut and I love the result.

I started with two coats of OPI - I Want to be A-lone Star. This polish is from the OPI Texas Collection. It is a grayish-blue with a hint of shimmer. It was opaque in one coat, but I usually always add another for good measure :) I added SV Top Coat for a quick dry (still on the hunt for that 3-free quick dry).

With the tape, I added diagonals with Nails Inc. - Electric Lane Holographic Glitter Top Coat. I picked up this top coat at Sephora a few months ago and love the way it can change the look of polishes! I added another coat of SV to seal in the holographic glitter and give the mani a smooth finish.

What your go-to when you're short on time?

Moody Blues

I would like to dedicate this post to my mother.  During our last visit to Ulta, I found a blue nail polish named Moody Blues and just knew that I had to have it.  The reason why is because my mother loves The Moody Blues.  Now I'm sure most of you are asking "Who are they?"  but you may know a song of theirs without knowing who they are.  One of their big hits was "Night In White Satin". Here it is for your viewing pleasure:

So I decided to do just two coats of this lovely blue creme polish. The color was very pretty, nothing insanely unique, but I still really loved the polish.  However, since I have a couple other blues that are really similar I feel its only fitting to give this polish to my lovely mother.  I know that she will just LOVE it :)

So what is your favorite royal/navy blue creme polish?  Also, I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

LA Cracked

When the Shatter polishes first came out, I was really excited about them and loved to use them. Since then, I really have to see something I love and want to try out with Shatter before I reach for it on the shelf.  A few weeks ago, I was at Rite Aid and saw this crackle polish on sale for $3.99. At such a low price, I couldn't pass it up. I picked up LA Colors Cracked - Frag and decided to give it a try.

I decided to also test out one of the Julep colors that Brittany had purchased... Julep - Dendrie. I used two coats of the Julep and topped with a top coat. The application of the Frag wasn't too bad for a $3.99 polish. My only complaint is that it was really sheer. I would have liked to be able to layer the coats, but that's not really an option with crackle polishes (at least that I know of).

Have you found any other brands of crackle polish that work really well? (I have a Pure Ice that I love!)

Army of 1

As Jen had told you, we took a little trip to Ulta and lets just say she was not the only one to get some new polishes.  I was excited because the Ulta polishes were on sale for buy one, get one free.  Ulta Salon polishes are normally priced at $6.00 a bottle.  So I was excited to get the polishes for $3.00.  We have acquired quite a nice collection of Ulta polishes since we have become serious about our nail polish obsession.  And I really like there polishes.  I enjoy the formula, as well as the bottles and brushes that they have.  If you haven't tried Ulta polishes yet, you should really think about giving them a try.

The first polish I decided to test out was Ulta Army of 1.  This polish is a lovely army/camouflage green color with just a hint of shimmer in it.  I did 2 coats of this and topped it with a coat of SV.  I completely loved this color.  I was a little nervous about the color, but it ended up being so pretty. The color is a nice mossy green with a touch of grey.  In some lights it would look more grey then green, but the next second it would be more green.  Either way its lovely.  There is also a little bit of shimmer in this polish.  I could only see it sometimes but that was just fine.  Now for the pictures:

Taken with the flash.  It wasn't very sunny out this day :(
You can see the hint of shimmer in the bottle and a little on the nails too.  Click to enlarge :)
Do you like this color?  I think its perfect for the fall.  Do you have a favorite army green color?

Nailed It

I spent this weekend wearing my favorite costume and dancing it out while visiting Brittany and Ericka, the day after the Halloween festivities we took a trip to Ulta. I got some nice polishes (and some super pricey makeup!). One of the beauties I picked up was OPI's Swimsuit... Nailed It. Which is part of their Miss Universe collection. Honestly I haven't really seen these polishes anywhere and I was immediately taken with Swimsuit... Nailed It. Its a vibrant blue with a nice shimmer. Obviously I'm a sucker for anything glittery or shimmery :)

2 Coats Swimsuit... Nailed It in very poor lighting.
This polish went on beautifully and was so bright and pretty once I had it on it was completely distracting. Its definitely not a fall color but I don't really care about that as long as I like it.I felt like this polish was perfect to brighten up a dreary fall day.

This picture captures the actual color of the polish a lot better.

Fall Foliage

Welcome to November! Here in Ohio, that is a welcome to the blistery winds, frigid temperatures, and mountains of snow to come... thank goodness for snow days :)

After finishing off a pink-filled October, it is finally time to share some different colors. Yesterday, Brittany showed you Revlon - Tangerine... an awesome orange that we both wore to celebrate Halloween. Being slightly lazy, I decided to just stamp on top of this color. I gathered up colors that reminded me of fall and leaves on the ground and started stamping with one of our plates with a leaf stencil. I stamped with China Glaze - Vertical Rush and Emerald Fitzgerald, Revlon - Hot for Chocolate, Ulta - High Roller, and Finger Paints - Vintage Velvet.

I tried to make it look like the leaves were blowing across my nails, so I scattered them among my fingers, while layering them on my thumbs. Overall, I really like this mani. It was something I had been thinking of and couldn't wait to try out.

One of the gnomes from the Gnome and Garden Show at Holden Arboretum... my nails reminded me of him!
Do you have a fall mani you are waiting to try out?
