Copy Cat Nails

So I stole my nails from Sarah over at Chalkboard Nails :)  I saw this one day before going to paint my nails and I loved it so much, I just had to copy.  I was also so excited because I had just picked up Sally Hansen Glass Slipper and I wanted to test it out.  I used Orly Liquid Vinyl as my base, adding a layer of Glass Slipper and then topped it off with a thin layer of Revlon Royal.  The results were just gorgeous!   Sarah added a holographic topcoat, but I just left mine be.  Click here to see her post.  Her blog is amazing.  She does so many beautiful designs.

Taken in sunshine :)
I loved this mani, and I can't wait to use Glass Slipper again.

Royal Snowcone

I've finally pulled off a manicure with the dotting tool that I really like :) Hooray!!
I started off with Orly - Snowcone. I really love this color, although I haven't used it in a really long time (I just posted about it this week, but that mani was from this summer.) The application is great and it is opaque in one coat.

For my dots, I decided to use OPI - Alpine Snow Matte and Revlon Top Speed - Royal. This was a really good use for the Alpine Snow Matte. I don't love the application when using it as a base color. It is streaky and balds really easily (more reasons to add to list of why mattes are hard to deal with). However, as a dotting color, the matte worked wonderfully!
I was really happy with the outcome. I decided to go with the ring finger and the thumb since I loved the look once I did an accent nail and had to add another. I definitely surprised myself :)

Please excuse my ridiculously dry hands!

Fall Foliage

Welcome to November! Here in Ohio, that is a welcome to the blistery winds, frigid temperatures, and mountains of snow to come... thank goodness for snow days :)

After finishing off a pink-filled October, it is finally time to share some different colors. Yesterday, Brittany showed you Revlon - Tangerine... an awesome orange that we both wore to celebrate Halloween. Being slightly lazy, I decided to just stamp on top of this color. I gathered up colors that reminded me of fall and leaves on the ground and started stamping with one of our plates with a leaf stencil. I stamped with China Glaze - Vertical Rush and Emerald Fitzgerald, Revlon - Hot for Chocolate, Ulta - High Roller, and Finger Paints - Vintage Velvet.

I tried to make it look like the leaves were blowing across my nails, so I scattered them among my fingers, while layering them on my thumbs. Overall, I really like this mani. It was something I had been thinking of and couldn't wait to try out.

One of the gnomes from the Gnome and Garden Show at Holden Arboretum... my nails reminded me of him!
Do you have a fall mani you are waiting to try out?

Happy Halloween!

Hope everyone enjoyed their Halloween.  Ericka and I weren't able to pass out candy because we live in a closed apartment building, but that's ok.  Just wanted to quickly show off our Halloween manis.  We both did 2 coats of Revlon Tangerine.  I added a spider to my ring finger for a little more spookiness :)

And since we were both wearing the same color, I had the brilliant idea that we could take pictures together.  So here is your official warning...these may be the weirdest photos that you have ever seen.  So either enjoy....or leave now.
All the pictures were taken outside with a flash.  It gets dark early now.  Boo!

We are pretty boring, but this orange is very pretty.  I'm not a huge fan of orange polish and I think this looked a little weird with my skintone, but I still really liked it.

Do you have any favorite orange polishes?  Let us know!
