25th Birthday Mani

So it has been a crazy long time since we have posted, but life has been beyond crazy.  This tax season is completely kicking my ass, therefore causing me to be more lazy then general once I get home.  However, I did have a birthday since the last post.  I'm now officially a quarter of a century out...yay!

So here is my birthday mani. It was completely copied from Deniz.  Click here to see the original.  She is amazing! I used OPI Pink Friday, Sinful Colors Pink Creme, Essie Main Squeeze, OPI Alpine Snow and a pink nail art polish.  Hope you like it!

The Avengers & a Lemon

I'm so excited because today (finally after waiting what seemed like forever, but was really only 2 days) we walked down to where they are filming 'The Avengers' in downtown Cleveland.  Now, of course, I forgot to take my actual camera with me today, but I did remember my ipod so that is what these photos were taken with.  Its pretty exciting to see all the props and how much they have changed the block, but we didn't get to see any actual filming.  We are planning on walking down again tomorrow, and possibly taking a hike around the block to see the other end (I have my fingers crossed that we do!)  So here are my semi-crappy photos.  I'm going to try to caption each of them for you.  Enjoy!

Here is some fallen building pieces.  The largest one is easily 7 ft tall!

Here is how I generally watch the action.  This is the empty building beside me, and if you look really closely you can see outlines of a firetruck, etc.  Its much easier to see in person, but its definitely not the best view.

Here is F.D.N.Y. Firetruck :)
This is a N.Y. Police car.  All that dirt that you see on top of it is fake basically.  They added all of it, even the little pieces of stone.  So crazy!

This is a New York City bus.  The other side was more beat up, and the door was like falling off.  As you can see the bus is missing a few windows.

Here is the crowd of people trying to get a peek at the action!

In this picture you can see that they have built up the front of an empty apartment building. There were a bunch of posters underneath, by the side walk.  There are also large pieces of road or building in the middle of the picture.  And you can see a taxi that has been flipped, as well as a couple of police cars.
So there are all my pictures from today.  Hopefully we will get to see some more tomorrow.  Also, since this is a nail polish blog I wanted to share with you a little something that I did this week.  I had my nails painted dark blue (will be posting the base color soon), but I wanted to see if I was capable of creating a cupcake mani.  So I gave it a try, and I was pretty pleased with the results.  Now I just need a birthday party to attend :)  Also, we have decorative lemons on our dinning room table, so I tested one as an object to hold for pictures.  I'm not really a fan, so this will probably be the only lemon pic.
It makes me hungry!

I Don't Think You're Ready For This Jelly

So you can thank Ericka for this amazing title.  We were in the car this evening, discussing my current nails and she decided that since I'm showcasing a jelly sandwich the Destiny Child's song would be the perfect title.  Of course once the song title was said out loud, I couldn't get the song out of my head for hours.  If you would like to also get this song stuck in your head, click here.

So on to the nails.  I started with 2 coats of China Glaze Innocence.  Now I just purchased this polish this weekend after seeing it on MaD Manis blog post "Take Two: Wedding French Manis" I just thought that it was a really nice color, so I decided I had to have it.  I really liked the formula of this polish.  It is a jelly pale/nude-ish pink.  The color is beautiful.  I'm not completely sold that the color is great for my skintone but I don't really care because I like the color so much.
China Glaze Innocence - Picture taken outside in overcast Ohio weather.  Shocking :)

I just wore Innocence on its own on Tuesday, but decided to spicy it up for Wednesday.  I added 1 layer of Ulta Pinata-Yada-Yada.  To finish it all off I added another thin coat of China Glaze Innocence.  This is my first successful jelly sandwich, and I'm really loving it!
This is just the layer of Pinata-Yada-Yado without the last coat of Innocence.
With the last coat of Innocence.  Its pretty!
Bonus Picture:
So I work in downtown Cleveland and on the street right outside my office windows they have "Walnut Wednesdays".  The event is where a bunch of mobile food carts line up on the street and local bands provide entertainment.  Its really interesting to watch outside my window, but I've been scooping a cupcake stand for the last few weeks.  Luckily, today I was able to go and get a Strawberry Lemonade cupcake.  It was yummy!  I thought that we should continue our cupcake theme this week with a pic.  Sorry for the poor quality, but I was trying to take it quickly before getting back to work.

Do you love this as much as me?

Cute as a cupcake...yummy!

As part of the massive haul I got last week Click here if you missed it I picked up a bottle of O.P.I. Oh So Glam. Its a really pretty creamy white that has the perfect amount of shimmer. The best part is this shade was on sale so I only paid $2 for it! Its more subdued than what i usually wear but I was on my way to church so it seamed appropriate. The color looked beautiful on my nails and after a while of staring at it I decided it looked like vanilla frosting. Thoughts of creamy vanilla icing lead to thoughts of cupcakes in my mind.

2 Layers of Oh So Glam with a coast of SV on top
O.P.I. Oh So Glam and one of our delicious cupcakes!
Once i started thinking of cupcakes I just had to make them. So Joe and I got the bright idea to bake some beautiful cupcakes to photograph with my manicure. This was definitely easier said than done for us. First off neither of us are Betty Crocker so after about 2 hours of struggles we finally had 18 acceptable cupcakes. Then came the picture taking.

Mmmmmmm
Its not that easy to hold a cupcake and show your nails to the camera, also i just have awkward hands so the pictures aren't exactly what I had in mind. Plus there has never been worse lighting than there is in our kitchen and dining room. Still we got a couple nice pics and one very delicious looking picture of the cupcakes....

Even though everything didn't turn out how I imagined the manicure was pretty and girly and the cupcakes were pretty delicious.
