Velvet Rope and Glitter

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day :)
Today's mani is from quite some time ago, since I haven't really been the best about taking photos lately. I had just gotten these polishes in December and this was the first time I had tested them out.

I started off with two coats of Orly - Velvet Rope. I really love this color because of the subtle silver glitter that is in the polish. The application was great and it was opaque in one coat. I decided to add Nicole by OPI - One Less Lonely Glitter to the ring fingers for an accent. This color is from the Justin Bieber collection (and was a birthday gift :). I was too lazy to clean up the application of the accent nail, so forgive me for the sloppiness.

Blue La La with Dots

I just quickly wanted to show you my nails from Tuesday.  As I had stated earlier, I'm slightly obsessed with Instagram and I found an mani design that I just had to try :)  The original was done with a nude and red polish  (rachell_rachell is who originally posted it and you can just search her screen name).  I wasn't in the mood for those colors and had recently gotten some new polishes that I wanted to test.

I started with 2 coats of Nina Ultra Pro Blue La La on all my fingers except my ring finger.  This color is a beautiful dusty cornflower blue.  I really liked this color and the formula was great.  I did 3 coats of Nicole by OPI My Lifesaver on my ring fingers.  Next I used my dotting tool and did 2 dots on each nail (alternate color of the base).  Overall, I was really happy with the way that this came out.  Of course, I ended up smearing my pinkie nail dots but other than that it looked nice.

Here is my Instagram pic.  My username is blw1605.
I've decided that I really love these simple...but not just a plain color manis.  They make me feel like I have some skills :)

Me + Blue

Last Friday, I took yet another trip to Ulta. Temptation (and honestly, clearance) led me to pick up a few more bottles to add to our collection. Sadly, I picked up a color that we already own... the troubles of having too many options. I've opted to finally print out our inventory to have with me (nerdy, I know) in order to prevent this from happening. We've decided to keep the spare for a giveaway to be held at some time in the future.

Regardless of it's state already on our shelf (and more currently, the helmer!), I had not used Nicole by OPI - Me + Blue which is part of the Justin Bieber Collection. If you need a reason to love Justin Bieber (or another reason if your like us :), this polish should help convince you. Me + Blue is a lovely blue holo with a great application. Thanks to a how-to on cleaning up your nails at Sonidlo's Nail, I was actually able to save my cuticles from destruction.

Luckily, we were able to catch some sunlight this weekend to get some photographs in.

Taken in the shade.

Just The Tip

I am in much to silly a mood to be writing anything serious tonight (please see the title of this post) so I'm going to keep it short and simple.
When I went to paint my nails last night I was having a really difficult time picking colors. I typically love bright, neon colors and glitter, but I was actually feeling more of a dark polish, I still couldnt resist the glitter though.
The red color I used is Cherry on Top from Nicole by OPI. Usually when I paint my nails I put on a black or white base coat underneath to brighten or darken the color, so I used ORLY Liquid Vinyl under the red. It ended up making it like a wine color which I thought was really pretty. The french tip is Beware from Pure Ice.

From Nail Biting To Gold

Let me start my first post with a confession, I am a life long nail biter. Since I was a little kid I've always had nails that were bitten as low as they could get. This past fall I started working at a hospital and I decided it was time for me to kick the habit, there is nothing dirtier than biting your nails in place that is crawling with germs. I finally stopped biting in February and I found the best way to keep my fingers out of my mouth was to have a fresh coat of nail polish on them. I never wanted to ruin a new manicure so for the last 5 months or so I've been painting my nails at least every couple of days.

This particular manicure is a simple one. The bottom color is 'The Next Ceo' from Nicole by OPI. Its a really pretty gold, in fact it looked so good on its own I almost didn't use the shatter. The top is Black Shatter from OPI. I love the shatter. Its really easy to use and makes it look like I spent a long time on my nails. My only issue with the shatter polishes is that they tend to chip unless you have a good top coat. I used Seche Vite as a top coat and it works great.
Taken inside on a cloudy day in Ohio.  What a shocker!
