Dreamy Pink Glitter

Today, I'm going to share with you a Pure Ice polish.  I never really had that many Pure Ice polishes, but Ericka had quite a few.  I also just saw Pure Ice Superstar on a blog (I can't remember which one now) and I really wanted it.  Ericka and I searched the local Walmart but sadly no luck.  However, I did find Dreamy, which reminded me of Superstar just with a pink color and different type of glitter.  Well with that description makes it sound like they are nothing alike.  And I'm sure they aren't the same really, but they are both pretty.

I ended up doing 2 coats for this mani.  The polish is a coral pink color with a jelly finish.  The glitter was small iridescent glitter.  I loved the squishy-ness of this polish and the glitter was pretty to look at. Overall, I was both really happy with the application and the look of this polish.  For $2 its a win for me :)

Art Thou Blue?

The weather in Ohio has been some beautiful shades of blue and greys.  I'm not sure how much I'm liking the fact that its dark still when I get out of bed, but I think the main reason for that is because I know that means that tax season is just right around the corner. So to match the lovely weather, I decided to wear a lovely blue polish.  I decided to test out Finger Paints Art Thou Blue?


This polish is a lovely dusty blue with a  bit of a hidden sliver shimmer.  I was lucky enough to get some sunshine to photography this beauty. 

I'm just loving this color :)

To add a little something to this I added one coat of Pure Ice Oh Baby!  I completely love this color and I think its extra pretty over blues :)  Sadly, its really challenging to photography this polish's true beauty.  Sometimes in the right light you can see that there is a purplish tint to it. 

In the sunlight the sparkle doesn't show as much. But...

In the shade its lovely.

I wish I had taken a picture of this polish inside, because I think that it might have shown the colors better, but I forgot. Oops!  Anyways, do you have any particular polishes that you love to layer with? Let us know :)

Oh Baby...It's Vintage Velvet

Today I have a lovely fall color for you, which  is actually kind of perfect because it was nice cool day.  Which is definitely a nice change to the crazy hot days that we have been having lately.  For this mani, I started with 2 coats of Finger Paints Vintage Velvet.  This color is part of Finger Paints new fall collections.  The color of this polish is beautiful dusty bluish green. I don't have any other color like this in my collections, so I was very excited to add it :)

I also picked up Pure Ice - Oh Baby! on Saturday night.  I thought it would be a good topper for this lovely green.  I really loved the results.  What do you think?

So they haven't started filming on the street beside me yet, but as soon as they do I will add pics.

Cheshire Cat

Probably about a month ago, I found a tape mani on Chloe's Nails that I loved. I've done a few attempts at this design, experimenting with the colors and rays. I decided I wanted to try out Ulta - Little Black Dress and Brittany wisely advised me that Pure Ice -  Peony would look great with it. She was right! I just started cutting tape and putting the rays on in a pattern. For some reason, I struggle with scissors and failed at cutting tape into equal pieces. Oh well!

Here's the results... By the time I remembered to take a camera with me, it was dark outside. These were both taken with a flash outside.

As soon as I was done painting my nails, I had the thought that these reminded me of the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. But I couldn't exactly remember what that darn cat looked like. Being as resourceful as I am, I used the ever reliable Wikipedia to look him up (I saved you the hassle... click here if your childhood memories are failing you as well!) Okay, so not an exact match, but he's different than I remember, and I still stand by my claim :)

Pink Peonies

So before I go into my crazy ramblings here, let me just remind you that I watch too much t.v. I've admitted it, but I still can't seem to cure it :) It's just too addicting. When I picked up this Pure Ice - Peony to paint my nails the other day, I remembered this story.

I was once watching an episode of Ellen and she was talking about her wedding. She talked about picking flowers for the ceremony and they agreed on peonies for the symbolism ("P" - and - "E") for Portia and Ellen. I just thought that was such a cool idea. And who knows... if I happen to marry a guy whose name starts with "P", maybe I can borrow her idea :)

The nail polish went on pretty nicely and the pictures are after two coats.  The only issue I had was that you can still see some brush strokes on my nails.

Matte-ly Busted on Park Ave.

Matte-ly Busted on Park Ave.

So I just couldn't wait to try out the new matte top coat that I picked up yesterday.  Last night I decided to try out three of the new polishes that I accidentally purchased yesterday :)  I started with 2 coats of NYC- Park Ave. This is lovely taupey, putty color.  I really liked the color alone, but I keep getting bubbles on my nails.  I think its due to the climate conditions in  my apartment.

After letting that dry (while as much as it would because our apartment doesn't have central air, and our little wall unit can only do so much) I applied 1 layer of Pure Ice-Busted.  This polish looks purple in the bottle with a duochrome shimmer (greenish-pinkish).  Its really pretty looking in the bottle, and equally pretty on the nail.  I was a little surprised by how sheer it was, but it made it great for layering.  Here is a picture of it over top of Park Ave.

I really struggled to get a picture of this polish and all of its glory.  This was also late last night, taken in my kitchen with a flash.  I tried a couple of pictures, but none were truly successful.  I figured that this picture did give a sense of the shimmer and multi-colorfulness. 

To complete the look, I topped it off with a coat of Hard Candy-Matte-Ly In Love.  I really liked the way that it came out.  While working today, I just keep staring at my nails.  It was fun to watch the different colors come out depending on the light and way I was moving my hands.  There is a beautiful purplish-pink shimmer color that shows up, but I just couldn't get a good picture of it.  I'm adding a few photos to show off this manicure, but nothing truly did it justice.

Probably the best photo to give you the true effect of the matte and duochrome.  This is taken with natural light on my windowsill.

Direct sunlight.  It has a silver shimmery look here.

Overall, I really loved this and will hopefully wear it again, but considering I just bought lots of other equally pretty polishes, I will play fair and try out another new one tonight :)

So I may have gone a little overboard...Oops!

So I'm all alone this week.  Ericka and Jen have chosen the hottest week of 2011to go camping.  I'm kinda glad that I'm not roughing it right now.  But the bad thing about them camping, is that leaves me with time to buy things, and by things I mean nail polish.  And that's exactly what I did tonight. 

I hadn't planned on getting a lot.  I really just wanted to go checkout the new Big Lots that just opened by us.  They ended up having a set of 5 E.L.F polishes, so I had to get those!  And there were also some multiple nail art paints, and since we currently only own 1, I thought 'Why not?'  So I ended up getting 9 bottles in total :)

While at Big Lots, I was thinking about how much I would like to find a matte top coat.  So I decided that I would head to Walmart, just to see if there were any there.  Thankfully there was a Hard Candy Matte Top Coat.  But I also found some other goodies :)  After almost falling not once, but two times in the store (Do you ever slip all over when wearing flip flops on shiny floors?  Well I do!) I ended up getting 2 NYC polishes, 2 Petites, and 1 Pure Ice.

I also decided that I just couldn't wait to see how they all look, so I decided to just paint all of my fingers. I didn't remove my old polish first, so I'm sure they will look a little different once they are on a naked nail, but I'm definitely excited for quite a few of these! I took photos, but they did not look pretty at all, and I just can't do that to your eyes.  But here is a picture of all the new goodies!

Just The Tip

I am in much to silly a mood to be writing anything serious tonight (please see the title of this post) so I'm going to keep it short and simple.
When I went to paint my nails last night I was having a really difficult time picking colors. I typically love bright, neon colors and glitter, but I was actually feeling more of a dark polish, I still couldnt resist the glitter though.
The red color I used is Cherry on Top from Nicole by OPI. Usually when I paint my nails I put on a black or white base coat underneath to brighten or darken the color, so I used ORLY Liquid Vinyl under the red. It ended up making it like a wine color which I thought was really pretty. The french tip is Beware from Pure Ice.
